A Message from Senator Mike Enzi
I hope that you had a great Fourth of July with your family and friends and that you are enjoying the parades, rodeos and summer festivities across the state this month. July and August are such a wonderful times to spend in Wyoming and I look forward to being there more than just weekends.

Celebrate National Day of the American Cowboy on July 24
This year, Senator Enzi will celebrate the “National Day of the American Cowboy” on July 24. The Senate unanimously passed a resolution on June 29 to honor the accomplishments and contributions of cowboys across the nation. This is the sixth annual National Day of the American Cowboy since Senator Craig Thomas began the tradition in 2005. Thomas, a cowboy himself, honored the heritage of his home state and the West by sponsoring a resolution to name the fourth Saturday in July “National Day of the American Cowboy,” which coincides each year with Cheyenne Frontier Days. Since Thomas’ passing in 2007, Enzi has continued the tradition in honor of his legacy. “Craig set an example by carrying on this important tradition of recognizing the spirit and contributions of cowboys across the country. The Cowboy tradition is woven into all aspects of American life and continues to create a standard to live by,” Enzi said.
Senate passes flawed financial “reform” bill
On July 15, the Senate passed a financial regulatory reform bill, the “Restoring American Financial Stability Act of 2010,” with a vote of 60-39, despite alarming privacy infringements. Senator Enzi voted against the bill and spoke out against the Big Brother financial super agency that the bill creates that will have the power to meddle in every day personal financial decisions. “This bill will take away liberties, plain and simple. To say it’s federal overreach is an understatement. The sad part is that it is happening all under the guise of ‘consumer protection’ and ‘Wall Street’ reform. While this bill may give great talking points for campaigns, in reality, it does nothing to stop future financial meltdowns,” Enzi said. Enzi was able to make some small changes toward better consumer privacy, but those changes were not enough to truly protect consumers for Enzi to support its passage.
