Dear
Friends,
The AIG
bonus scandal has dominated the economic debate
and the news cycle this week. The behavior of
AIG executives funding enormous bonuses with
taxpayer money is outrageous.
When the
bailout debate started last September, I thought
the three core principles we must adhere to
should be accountability, transparency and
oversight on government spending. It is obvious
these principles have not been met.
AIG
must be held accountable to its biggest
shareholder – the American taxpayer. AIG and its
executives must be willing to make sacrifices to
try and regain the public trust.
Best
wishes,
