Applicants for House Districst 56

CASPER – The Republican precinct committeemen and committeewomen of state House District 56 will convene tomorrow, Tuesday, February 5, at 6:00PM to select three individuals to forward to the Natrona County Commissioners to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former state Rep. Tom Walsh. The meeting will take place at the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission Building at 2211 King Boulevard.

PROCESS:
At the meeting, each candidate will be given an opportunity to speak for up to five minutes. If there are fewer than six candidates, each candidate will be asked three to four questions by state Reps. Lisa Shepperson, Tom Lockhart and Bob Brechtel. One vote will be taken and the top three vote getters will be the nominees of the selection committee and be forwarded to the Natrona County Commissioners.

As of 10:30AM this morning, there are three applicants for HD 56. They are Casper attorney Tim Stubson, former Mayor Rene Burgess, and Casper resident Suzey Delger. In the event that there are only three applicants by 5:00PM tonight (application deadline), the above process will go forward as planned. It will not be abridged in any way.

Natrona GOP changes House District 56 application and meeting dates

CASPER – The Natrona County Republican Party has changed the application deadline date and the selection meeting date with regard to filling the vacancy in House District 56. The application deadline for Republicans who would like to fill the vacancy in House District 56 has been changed to 5:00PM on Monday February 4th. The application can be filled out on line at www.natronagop.com. In addition, applications in both Microsoft Word and in .PDF formats can be downloaded from www.natronagop.com and www.wygop.org.

Republican precinct committeemen and committee women who live within House District 56 will meet on Tuesday, February 5th at 6:00 PM at the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission Building, 2211 King Boulevard, to select three nominees to forward to the Natrona County Commissioners.

“I strongly encourage Republicans interested in filling this vacancy to not wait until the last minute to get their application, resume and cover letter in. I suggest that all interested candidates have their stuff turned in by this weekend. No applications will be accepted if we are not in full receipt by 5:00PM on Monday, February 4th,” stated Cubin.

Natrona County Republican Party Chairman Bill Cubin announces process for interested candidates to fill the vacancy in House District 56

CASPER – Bill Cubin, Chairman of the Natrona County Republican Party, today released the initial procedures that will be used by the Natrona County Republican Party to fill the vacancy in House District 56 left by the resignation of former Rep. Tom Walsh.

“Our goal is to have this process be professional and entirely open to the public. In addition, we want to have this whole thing done in enough time so that the new representative in district 56 will be able to attend the legislative budget session on the very first day and not miss a vote,” said Cubin.

“This means that we are pretty time compressed and have a lot to do in a very short period of time.”

Republicans interested in filling this vacancy must:
  • Meet the constitutional requirement of being a state representative,
    • Live within the district and be able to provide proof of residence,
    • Be at least 21 years of age,
    • Be eligible to vote and otherwise hold public office,
  • Fill out an application online at http://www.natronagop.com, or download the application from http://www.natronagop.com or http://www.wygop.org and submit it with a one page cover letter and a two page resume no later than 5:00 PM on February 5 at the Wyoming Republican Party Headquarters, 400 East 1st Street, Suite 314. All applications, resumes and cover letters can also be turned in via email at w.cubin@bresnan.net, wygop@vcn.com, and chairman@natronagop.com. No other extraneous documents will be accepted or forwarded on to the Selection Committee.
The Republican Precinct Committeemen and Committeewomen who live within House District 56 will meet on February 7 at 6:00 PM at the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission Building, 2211 King Boulevard, to nominate three individuals to fill the vacancy. Those names will be passed to the Natrona County Commissioners and they will select one of the three to fill the vacancy.
